The Crown's Andalusian Estate — Gardens, Wisteria and the Rock of Gibraltar on the Horizon
From the marble terraces of this remarkable estate, the lawn rolls towards a horizon crowned by the Rock of Gibraltar and the shimmering Strait beyond. It's a view that stopped Netflix's location scouts in their tracks: this was a filming location for Season 3 of The Crown, its interiors doubling as royal bedrooms and its pool terrace transformed into a Los Angeles garden party.
One glance at the grounds explains the casting. A wisteria-draped loggia of whitewashed arches and carved stone columns shades the outdoor dining terrace. Terraced rose gardens climb behind the pool, punctuated by classical statuary and dry-stone walls, with mature palms, cypresses and pines framing every sightline. The large mosaic-tiled swimming pool sits at the heart of it all, ringed by lawns and a sun terrace, with a barbecue area for long al fresco lunches.
Inside, the house carries the same period elegance: beamed ceilings, a grand stone fireplace, wrought-iron chandeliers, and reception rooms that feel collected rather than decorated. There are seven bedrooms, six bathrooms and a guest cloakroom across a south-facing layout, plus a characterful country kitchen with a traditional bread oven and hand-painted Andalusian tiles — and a second, light-filled prep kitchen with central island. The setting is Los Alcornocales Natural Park, between Tarifa and Algeciras — cork oak forests and hiking trails from the gate, yet 15 minutes from Tarifa, 20 from Gibraltar, 30 from Sotogrande, and 35 minutes from Africa by ferry.
